When asked what I believe in I find myself standing with a blank stare questioning my own belief system and wondering if I've got it "all figured out". News flash, not a single person on this earth does. What I do know is that each moment in life in which felt like ending it all, because I found no purpose anymore, somehow always brought change. Now I'm not saying things always changed for the better, at least in my perspective at the time, but in that moment I felt the cold embrace of challenge. Think of life as a video game. If we were to stay on the same level the game would be short, we would master it quickly and our skill level would remain the same. But as any great developer knows, challenge is the key to keeping interest and is what makes the game worthwhile. It's the fight to do better, to BE better that keeps us playing. At times you're going to want to throw your controller so hard until it shatters and leaves you unable to play, but you must understand the purpose behind it all. You may begin to blame yourself and question your own skill or intelligence, but remind yourself that everyone faces challenges in which they feel like giving up, but those who persevere and continue are the ones who find the benefit from it all, and are made better because of it. Next time you feel like giving up, remind yourself that you alone were handed a controller by the one who knew you could master the game. This belief, while questionable and potentially untrue, will keep you focused and will lead you to the end of it all stronger, faster and wiser. It's okay if you feel like pressing the pause button to recoup every once in a while but you must always return.
